Using Search Filters

While AI search often finds what you need instantly, filters help you narrow down results when you have many documents or need precise control.

Filter by Category

Filter results to specific document categories:

  • Identity - Passports, licences, ID cards
  • Financial - Bank statements, tax documents, receipts
  • Medical - Health records, prescriptions, insurance cards
  • Legal - Contracts, certificates, agreements
  • Home - Warranties, manuals, maintenance records
  • Vehicle - Registration, insurance, service records

Filter by Date

Narrow results by when documents were added or their effective dates:

  • Added this week/month/year
  • Expiring within 30/60/90 days
  • Custom date range

Filter by Family Member

Find documents belonging to specific people:

  • Filter by the person the document belongs to
  • See documents shared vs private
  • Find documents owned by multiple family members

Filter by Status

Filter based on document status:

  • Active - Current, valid documents
  • Expiring Soon - Documents expiring within your alert window
  • Expired - Past their expiry date
  • Archived - Documents you've archived

Combining Filters

Use multiple filters together for precise results:

Show me Sarah's medical documents from the last 6 months that aren't expired

This combines: person filter (Sarah) + category (Medical) + date (6 months) + status (not expired)

Saving Filter Presets

Save commonly used filter combinations as presets:

  1. Apply your desired filters
  2. Click "Save as preset"
  3. Name your preset (e.g., "Kids' Documents")
  4. Access saved presets from the filter menu

Clearing Filters

To reset and see all results:

  • Click "Clear all filters" at the top of results
  • Or press Esc twice to reset search completely
