Question 1

How does Archevi compare to FamilyVault.ai?

Accepted Answer

Both Archevi and FamilyVault.ai help families manage important documents, but there are key differences. Privacy: Archevi anonymizes your documents before any AI model sees them and has an explicit no-training policy. FamilyVault's privacy policy does not clearly address AI training on user data. Hosting: Archevi stores all data in Canada (DigitalOcean Toronto) under PIPEDA. FamilyVault is US-based and subject to the CLOUD Act. Pricing: Archevi publishes pricing starting at $8/month. FamilyVault does not show prices publicly. AI approach: Archevi gives you cited answers from your actual documents. FamilyVault offers a general AI concierge called Ally. For a detailed comparison, read our Archevi vs. FamilyVault.ai blog post.

Question 2

How is Archevi different from ChatGPT for organizing family documents?

Accepted Answer

ChatGPT is a general-purpose AI assistant. Archevi is purpose-built for family document management. Here are the key differences. Built for documents: Archevi processes your PDFs, extracts the content, and lets you ask questions with cited answers pointing to exact pages. ChatGPT Projects can hold files, but it was not designed for document knowledge management. Privacy by design: Archevi anonymizes your documents before any AI model sees them. With ChatGPT, your uploaded files may be used to improve OpenAI's models unless you opt out. OpenAI's privacy practices are governed by US law. No ads, ever: OpenAI announced in 2026 that ads are coming to ChatGPT's free and Go tiers. Archevi will never show ads. Your family's documents will never be used to target advertising. Canadian hosting: All Archevi data stays in Canada under PIPEDA. ChatGPT data is processed on US servers under US law. Family sharing: Archevi lets both partners access a shared vault. ChatGPT is designed for individual use.

Question 3

Will Archevi ever show ads?

Accepted Answer

No. Archevi will never show advertisements. This is a permanent commitment, not a temporary policy. We bring this up because the landscape is shifting. In early 2026, OpenAI began introducing ads to ChatGPT's free and Go tiers. When a product is free or cheap, the business model eventually needs another revenue source, and that source is usually advertising or data monetization. Archevi's business model is straightforward: you pay a subscription, and we provide a private, ad-free service. Your documents are not inventory for advertisers. Your search queries are not data points for targeting. Your family's insurance policies, wills, and medical records deserve a product that treats them as private. Full stop.
