M365 Family: $199/year. Copilot AI for the owner only.
Microsoft 365 Family gives Copilot to the subscription owner but locks out the other five family members. Archevi gives every family member full AI document search, privacy isolation, and Canadian data residency — starting at $6/month.

What Archevi does that M365 Family does not
AI for every family member
Every person on your plan gets full AI document search. Not just the account owner. Ask questions, find documents, get answers — from any device.
Privacy-first architecture
Your documents are anonymized before any AI processes them. Personal names, addresses, and account numbers are stripped out, then restored in the results you see.
Canadian data residency
All documents stored in Canada. PIPEDA compliant. Your family data never sits on US servers where it falls under different privacy laws.
Document intelligence built in
Automatic OCR for scanned documents, entity extraction for names and dates, expiry tracking for passports and insurance. M365 stores files. Archevi understands them.

The Copilot problem for families
Microsoft 365 Family lets up to six people share Office apps and 1 TB of OneDrive storage each. That part works well. The problem is Copilot — the AI assistant that Microsoft is building into everything.
On the Family plan, Copilot is only available to the person who owns the subscription. The other five members see the Copilot button but cannot use it. There is no way to share Copilot access across the family without buying separate Copilot Pro subscriptions at $26.99/month per person.
Starting April 15, 2026, Microsoft is going further — removing Copilot from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for free and consumer plan users entirely. The AI features M365 Family plan holders have been getting in Office apps will require a separate paid licence. AI access for families is shrinking, not growing.
For a family of four who all want AI features, that adds up to $199/year for M365 Family plus $80.97/month for three extra Copilot Pro subscriptions — over $1,170/year.
Archevi takes a different approach. Every family member on every plan gets full AI access. Upload a document, and anyone in the family can search it, ask questions about it, and get answers with the exact page cited. No per-user AI restrictions.
What M365 does better — and we will say so
Microsoft 365 Family includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. If your family needs Office apps for work or school, M365 is hard to beat. Each person also gets 1 TB of general cloud storage on OneDrive, which Archevi does not offer.
M365 also has deep integration with enterprise tools — Teams, SharePoint, Exchange. If you work in a Microsoft ecosystem during the day, the family plan extends some of that familiarity home.
Archevi is not a replacement for Office. It is a purpose-built family document vault with AI that actually works for everyone in the household. Many families use both.
